This book is massive to the point of being intimidating, which was initially a turn-off. But a girlfriend at the time was reading it; I wanted to read along and for us to discuss it (kinda gay, this I know, especially since she never even finished it). It grabbed me from the beginning and I flew through it. The subject treatment of wizardry and it's fusion into historical (real and mythical) events is very entertaining and makes for a fun read.
