This was the first step in my realizing that Frank miller is the most over-rated writer in comics. The Hard Goodbye is revenge fantasy noir tripe, fairly misogynistic (which is better than Miller does nowadays) and only innovative within the realm of comics. Andrew Vachss does this stuff (in novel form) better, though I'd hesitate to recommend it, either.

How anyone other than semi-literate, right wing misanthropes enjoy this escapes me, although there is ample evidence that they do.
