Her own persona was classic anime: big eyes, spiky hair, and tiny mouth. That should turn off anyone who might otherwise try to play with her.

I thought the book had potential but I was never really cought up in the plot. The world was interesting but I missed more detail and the storyline itself was a little chaotic. Maybe that's just to be expected by Vernor Vince. I thought the last part of the book was significantly better than the first part but in the end, I would not recommend this to people who are not super Sci Fi readers. Have you read anything else by Vince? I must admit I was a bit discouraged.

I'm about half way through and my favorite part so far was the first chapter. Other than that it has seemed relatively directionless. It feels almost as if the reader is only encountering secondary and tertiary characters. Because of that, I'm hoping that there will be a reveal at some point that will make the rest come together. The world itself has some interesting aspects, and every once in a while there is a statement that I find mildly amusing (such as the one above). I have not read anything else by Vernor Vinge. I picked this book up because I like sci-fi/speculative fiction, the world sounded interesting, and the Mr Rabbit character intrigued me. Half way through the book he has shown up about twice.
