I have been using Git for over six months now, yet I still found this book beneficial. I learned a few new tricks. It covers the basics well and has some more advanced information as well. It is certainly not a cookbook, or exhaustive reference, but it does what it set out to do very well. I recommend it to anyone looking to switch to Git, or who has recently done so.
I do wish that it spent more time on branches, merging, tracking, etc., as well as explaining some concepts of merged histories and the log. I also think it should have covered git stash and git apply, as those are both terribly handy. But overall, a enjoyable and beneficial read.

The Gift of Fear is brilliant. A true “must-read.” I have a friend who said (and I agree) regarding The Last Lecture that “All humans should read this book.” Despite the seemingly disparate topics of the two books —violence and love, respectively — I feel the same about The Gift of Fear. We would be happier and safer as individuals and as a nation if we learned from the stories and followed the advice in this book.
