I think I still like Jailbird better, but Vonnegut does something very nifty with this book. Throughout the story, the narrator keeps telling us that the number of people he killed in Vietnam and the number of extramarital affairs he had were significant. It isn't revealed until the last page, which is a word problem using clues throughout the entire book, supposedly to keep people from just skipping to the end and ruining the mystery. Clever.
