JW Loots The Invention of Hugo Cabret

I love this children's book. It is just a great idea having the pictures as part of the story. Even just having full double page drawings in between a chapter book is a cute idea. I hope he does more of this; my son loves looking at the drawings. This last few weeks it has calmed him down before bed time every night.

This is something that needs to catch on and I will be on the look out for anything else like it.

The story is also very well written. It doesn't "talk down" to the kids. Which is so hard to find. Most beginning chapter books are boring or ignore the rules of only write what is important to the story in effort to make the simple plots into longer stories.

(F3) The similarities I see between Hugo and other text is that Hugo is similar to mystery books because Hugo has a mystery that is being uncovered in the book. This book reminds me of the Skeleton Creek series. I am reminded of the Skeleton Creek series because both of these books are mysteries and the answers unfold nicely. Another similarity I see between these books is that while solving the mysteries a girl is the sidekick.

(F8) If the characters in this book were real people in real life I wold get along with Hugo because Hugo thinks out the box with his automaton, also Hugo seems nice in the book. I would also get along with Isabelle because she is adventurous and is always looking for an adventure and Isabelle likes to ride like myself. I think I might get along with Papa Georges and Mamma Georges because they were actress" just like what I would like to be. I don't think that I would get along with Hugo's uncle because he seems mean.

(F2) This book reminds me of a day in 5th grade that we had to do a science project and we had to invent electric objects. Also we had to fix objects that the teacher gave us that were broken. This book reminds me of this because the main character is young and he invents a lot of objects. He also fixes objects for the man that he works for. Also the characters remind me of old man reminds me of a old man that use to work in a store and a boy use to fix things so the old man put him to work there.

(F1) I recently started reading this book. This book is one of the confusing books I've read but as i kept reading and got engaged in the book i started to understand it. This book is interesting because this book has pictures to explain the story but it also has words to explain whats going on in the story. This book has shown me that even with out words in a book i can understand whats going on. This book is based on adventure and mystery i really like this book and i would recommend it to anybody.

(F1) I currently started reading this book. Honestly I was confused because it's basically mostly pictures. Than when I got further into the book I realized that the pictures are telling the story. I feel that people should read this book because it's interesting and funny. The main character is very interesting boy and he's basically telling the story. I definitely recommend this book to other readers.
