If you're new to frontend development, or you're an old school htmler that wants to learn standards based development, this is the book that will pop your CSS cherry. Superb. Easily one of the top 10, no probably 5, books I have ever read on web development.

If someone wanted to learn how to design web pages and I could only give them one book, it would be this one. He manages to distill a huge and contentious subject to its essence without being militant or unnecessarily exhaustive.

This book changed my perspective on front end development. He takes such a careful, high quality approach to the way he does things. I try to keep that in mind when I'm knee deep in nasty CSS. There is a better way!
