Summer Blonde

I am now on the hunt to read all of Tomine's books. This is a book of graphic novellas and covers many of the same topics of ethnic and sexual identity, but I found the characters to be slightly more poignant and lovable than Shortcomings. I was particularly drawn to one story about a girl who expresses her loneliness and anger by prank calling a public telephone. It has a perfectly ambiguous ending.

Lovely book. Expresses a sense of timing you wouldn't think possible in a medium that doesn't actually have a timeframe. Gorgeous stories, full of feeling.
