What I learned from this book is summed up nicely with the opening scripture and the following two quotes:

"Give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, "Who is the Lord?" Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God." - Prov. 30:8-9

p. 399, the prayer of Kathy's father: "Let what we suffer teach us to be merciful-let our sins teach us forgiveness."

p. 396, her father speaking, "If you pack up and run away from your problems, they tend to come with you."
