I was hooked on Grisham when I read The Partner and have read every one of his fiction law book since. He has been on the decline recently though.
I felt this book was rather captivating. Great character development and backstory. I love his style of jumping back and forth between story lines and then converging them all together at some point. But The Associate fell short at some point.
I would agree with some that it seems like Grisham just got tired of writing at some point near the end. It was like he met his quota on the term paper and just decided to turn it in.
There is a lot leading up to the final chapters with Bennie, Roy and Kyle but it seems that it just ends. There could have been another 2-3 chapters and to tie up all the loose ends and put in a bit more "falling action" instead of just and ending.
All in a all a great book that leaves you disappointed.
