I was into it until the ship in orbit was identified - the first third reminded me of the Glass Bead Game by Hermann Hesse and House of Suns by Alastair Reynolds and really grabbed me/made me think.

Great information on the basic operation and workflow with nice examples.

This was one of the best language books that I have ever used! (used in CIS 265)

Loved the first ~1/3 of the book (brilliant!) and was disappointed in the rest.

Bummer -- I thought it was good all the way through.

Liked the the plot and some of the ideas - good chance I will read the next book in the series. I have generally enjoyed Alastair Reynolds style more the the style in this book and found the characters a bit little simple and some of the plot details a little too easy to guess.
