So I like this book. It was a great refresher on Object Oriented Design, and a nice place to get solid advice on how to structure your code a full level up from simple construction.
However, it really felt dated for me. It's not that the concepts are not valid, it's just they've have been covered in so many other places (Probably by authors who have read and assimilated this book) that I didn't gain a lot of new ideas.
I guess in this sense, it's possible that Refactoring has so successfully integrated itself into the industry, that it is making itself irrelevant. A victim of its own success, and greatness.

2) Deluded sense of itself: The author starts off this book pretty much by telling us how good and important it is. Certainly there are some great ideas in here, but he'spatting himself on the back before I've made a decision, and that's uncomfortable. This is a prevalent theme throughout the book.
The most telling example in the text comes when Godin quotes a critic of his ...
