I had to put this book up here. I read it a few months ago and loved it. I thought I would give Walker Percy a good review since Kate found The Moviegoer so boring. She's probably right (I haven't read it). This book, however, was wonderful and emotionally compelling.
Katie added The Second Coming to her library.

Well, not everyone can appreciate such things.
I finished this a few months ago and Ian McEwan can write for me anytime. He is definitely one of the best fiction writers of his time. If you haven't read it, read it.
It's a good read for anyone who likes adolescent fiction minus the creepy bits about Edward watching her sleep and following her without her knowing. Definitely a hormonal, melodramatic high-school book, but who doesn't want to read those?

I don't, for starters. HA!

Or how about her talking about his "chest like a greek god" and "chiseled out of marble" every page??? Gah!

Hahaha, but that is totally how teenagers think... and talk. Hilarious.
My dad got me my very own copy for Christmas. I love Yoder (probably because he's Mennonite). We read this for an Ethics class I was in and it helped me put into words all the things my extended family has instilled in their descendants. Amazing.
This was my favorite book from doing research for my thesis. My sister just got it for me and I love her for it!
I just read this a few months ago and it is now one of my favorite books of all time. If you haven't read it, do so immediately :)
Becky jo told me to read this. It's supposed to be a modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice. Yikes.
This book is little better than a harlequin romance, which is definitely what Austen was writing to squash, she even wrote Northanger Abbey as a parody to such garbage because she wanted to make fun of it.
It isn't completely unenjoyable as any harlequin romance novel might be, but it is a far cry from anything Austen has ever written.
This book is hilarious and insightful. It makes me love the Puritans and kind of hate them at the same time (which is Vowell's intention). David Row got it for me for my birthday and I have yet to finish the last few chapters.
So far so good. I can read one short story at a time (which is why it is on my "currently reading" list.
