Eggplant Recipe for Eggplant Haters. (I want to try this, but I don't hate eggplant.)
Pour sesame oil into the wok. Eggplant soaks up a lot of oil, so put a lot in.
Once the oil is heated, cut the eggplant into thin slices about a quarter inch.
You want to carefully stir the eggplant trying to make every slice soak up the oil, but you also have to be fast at it. Keep the flame at high heat.
It's done when the eggplant starts to get soft and brown. If you cook it too much, the skin gets hard, so be careful.
Now you pour some soy sauce on top of it.
The scent of the sesame oil and the eggplant match perfectly. The strong flavor of the eggplant and the sesame oil have joined together to create a very mild flavor.

This one made me hungry...especially the "course" with all of the rice companion ideas. Who doesn't love rice?
I've learned lots of fun, obscure facts about food and have gained such a high regard for the art of Japanese cuisine from this series so far. Can't wait to read more.
But it does make me sad that I can't eat what I'm reading about.

I liked this novel much more than Great Gatsby. But now I want to reread Great Gatsby to compare and see if I was missing something.
