The allegorical story of Christian's journey to the Promised Land (Part One) and then his wife's and children's journey following him there (Part Two). This was worse than reading the Bible. There were over 200 characters and places encountered throughout the journey (all with symbolic names such as Sloth, Pride, Truth, Self-Conceit, and Envy). It was so dense and boring, I almost couldn't finish it. But I was dtermined as it is the second most widely read work of Christian writing (behind the Bible) in the world. It is referenced in so many other works of literature that I had to see what it was about. Bleck!
