SilentMaid: My sisters tried to get the Sea Witch to let me out of the spell. They gave her their hair and everything. But she said the only way I could get out of the spell is for me to kill him.
BeastNYC: Ask Grizzlyguy to help you. He & his gf killed a dwarf.
Grizzlyguy: It's not funny, Beast.
“When I look at the sky, I do not see shapes,” Ranulf explained patiently. “I see the spirits of those who died before us, watching over us for all time.”
I tensed, expecting the others to freak out or start asking Ranulf questions he couldn’t answer. But Raquel merely rolled her eyes, and Vic nodded slowly as he took it in. “That’s deep, man.”
Ranulf had to pause to think up an appropriate reply. “You are ‘deep’ also, Vic.”
"Be myself." Lucas' smile was sort of faraway, like he had a private joke. "That ought to be easier than it is."

“What spirits animate this box?”
“We’ve been over this.” Putting his hands on Ranulf’s desk, Mr. Yee slowly said, “No spirits animate any of the machines we’ve studied in class. Or will study, moving forward. In fact, no spirits animate any machines at all. Is that finally clear?”
Ranulf nodded slowly but didn’t look convinced. He wore his brown hair in a bowl haircut and had an open, guileless face. After a moment, he ventured, “What about the spirits of the metal from which this box is made?”
