Tim Seley The Passage

Best book I've read in quite awhile. Starts off a bit slow but gets more and more interesting, big speed bump in the middle, and then finishes really strong. Very well written, interesting characters, never was sure where it was gonna go.

Haven't read a lot of "genre fiction" but if this is any indication of what the rest of them are like then avoid it like the plague. This book is full of poorly written, poorly thought out, irritating "prose".

Examples: Instead of saying something like "Character A smiled" (from which we can infer "A" is happy) it would say "Character A smiled. Character B could tell they were happy"

Its a crime novel and all of the detectives make stupid decisions and act like they didn't make it through police academy... as in they couldn't pass any of the exams.

I'm done... don't bother.

Goofy fun. Very enjoyable little reading exercise. Kind of made me want to read the original... but only a little.

The older I get the more I love Calvin and Hobbes. It really is more a work of art than a comic book.

I'm a big fan of Ben Bova but this book just didn't jive with me. Felt a little too heavy handed at times. I read the first couple hundred pages then jumped and read the last 30 and it seemed like I didn't really miss anything in between.

Very well written. The series slowed down a bit around book 4 or 5 but I tore through the first 3 in a week. Robert Jordan just passed away within the last year with the last book half finished. He has the ending written and I believe a family member is helping to complete the book. Excellent series.

This is one of the worst books I've read in a long, long time. Plot was great, but man was it poorly written. I assumed that an author with multiple movies based on his books and an extensive library would be decent at least but boy was I wrong. Luckily its really short and the print is huge but in hindsight I wish I had just stopped. And I'm not a very picky reader. Avoid it.
