I had the pleasure of meeting both Martine and Stephen at the Tricycle Buddhist Conference of 2001 in NYC, just a few months before the tragic attack. I was nervous riding in the elevator with two people I respected so much, but they were very nice. Stephen said he had overslept and missed one of the speakers he wanted to see, but he considered a valid sacrifice for not having to get up at 4AM.
This book features simple yet effective meditations and showcases some of wonderful photography by Stephen Batchelor, Martine's Husband.
A fantastic read written by a fantastic mind.
Short and over-sentimental at times... bordering on sappy. Often under-written. It is, however, inspirational on some level and an entertaining read.
Will scare the shit out of you. I go back and read this every year. I know I read somewhere that Danielewski was previously a graphic designer, but I can't corroborate that anywhere. I did discover today that his sister is Poe, the singer.

Beautifully poetic prose. If you are a lover of words, you will probably find much enjoyment in this novella.
